5 star commit to kentucky through NCAA transfer portal…

Reece Potter of Miami (Ohio) has committed to Kentucky through the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Reece Potter travelled two and a half hours north to start his college career at Miami (OH). After two seasons as an undergraduate, he will return to his old Kentucky home. Potter committed to Kentucky through the NCAA Transfer Portal on Monday, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. As a Lexington native, he will be returning to the bluegrass.

Potter made a commitment, entering the portal at the window’s opening on March 24th, after hearing from Kentucky, specifically Cody Fueger, according to reports this weekend. During that recruiting process, he had offers from North Carolina, Washington, UConn, and Louisville, as well as California, Wisconsin, Dayton, and New Mexico State.

Potter, a 7’1″ centre, played 56 games, largely as a reserve, in two years at Miami (OH). He averaged 6.3 points (45.4% FG, 39.8% 3PT), 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists for the Redhawks. He improved most of those figures as a sophomore, and he now has two seasons of eligibility to continue his development at UK. Potter played high school basketball at Lexington Catholic, which is only ten or fifteen minutes from campus and Rupp Arena, where he averaged 17.9 points and 8.7 rebounds. He had previously committed to Xavier before a coaching change led him choose Miami (OH) over additional offers from Western Kentucky, Indiana State, and Saint Louis.

Kentucky now has what will most likely be one of their final additions, if not the final component, to next season’s squad in their second year under Mark Pope. The Wildcats have already returned a core of Brandon Garrison, Collin Chandler, and Trent Noah while they await Otega Oweh’s draft decision. They’re then bringing in a pair of four-star in-state freshmen in Jasper Johnson and Malachi Moreno, an international prospect from Croatia in Andrija Jelavic, and the top class in the portal right now, according to On3, with six additions: Jayden Quaintance (Arizona State), Mouhamad Dioubate (Alabama), Jaland Lowe (Pittsburgh), Kam Williams (Tulane), and Denzel Aberdeen (Florida).

Pending Oweh’s determination either his return to college or transition to professional play, Kentucky is likely close to finalising, if not already completed, their roster for the 2025-2026 season.

The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram and Twitter accounts are wonderful resources for keeping up with the latest developments.
