In a year with global championships, 77 competitors are competing in the inaugural Americas Para Archery Cup in Morelia, Mexico, starting this week. Similar events have already staged in Europe and Asia, however this is the first continental para circuit to be held in the Americas. The two stops on this new tour are in Morelia from July 16–20 and Chicago, USA, from August 27–31, which are just a few weeks before the World Archery Para Championships in Gwangju, Korea.
Two archers from the host country competed in the opening round of the event’s visually impaired athlete division. It is a full-service event, with the primary competition taking place at Venustiano Carranza Stadium and the finals taking place in the city’s historic center, as well as being shown on archery.
