Should the Houston Rockets trade for Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo?
Rockets trade Bucks Antetokounmpo…
The Houston Rockets have been included in nearly every trade rumour this offseason. One of the guys involved is a Milwaukee Bucks superstar.
Should Giannis Antetokounmpo request a trade from Milwaukee, the Houston Rockets have been identified as a potential destination. Houston may put together the best trade package of any team in the league. But should they really deal for the superstar?
Antetokounmpo has won an NBA championship once and been named MVP twice. Given that he is also thirty years old and that matches the five-year timeline with Houston’s existing squad, it doesn’t seem like a bad idea for the Rockets to plan a deal for him. Over his career, the forward averages 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, and five assists. He shot 60.1% from the floor and averaged 30 points, nearly 12 rebounds, and 6.5 assists this season.
Could the Rockets win a championship with his help? Not likely. The Bucks surrounded the forward with shooters after they won the title in 2021. It is not something that Houston possesses. Outside of the mid-range, Antetokounmpo is not the best shooter either. Rafael Stone would need to make more roster changes in order for him to join the Rockets and attempt to win a title.
Antetokounmpo might be among the greatest players ever shipped by trade, thus the price would also be very high. The Rockets’ front staff and Ime Udoka should either concentrate on keeping their existing roster together or make a deal for a premier shooter who might be less expensive. More than anything else, Houston needs a shooter who can also generate offence. The Rockets’ most crucial player is a closer, but they need a reliable shooter to win.
There is a lot of space for improvement because Houston’s team is still quite young. They have demonstrated their ability to play well on defence, but not on attack. By acquiring a quality shooter, the Rockets might be a contender in the next two or three years. Though the team and front office will need to find methods to dominate on offence without excellent shooting, Antetokounmpo might be a wonderful addition to Houston.
