The USA Softball Junior Olympic (JO) State Tournament recently brought the local girls’ 10u and 12u teams to Fairbanks. The Interior Girls Softball Association hosted the competition. Teams from Fairbanks, Delta, Palmer, Wasilla, and Anchorage participated in the lovely, bright weather. The Anchorage teams put up a fierce fight against the Delta females. All of the players and spectators sought shade due to the lovely weather and temperatures in the 80s. This season, the girls learned a lot, played hard, and shown excellent sportsmanship. A particular thank you to the incredible coaches who make it all possible!
Earl and Jamie McNabb are the 10u coaches. The team finished the competition with one victory and two defeats. Athena Haas and Lillian Lindsey were named game MVPs. Meghan Hancock and Cale Durham are the 12U coaches. The team finished the competition with three victories and three defeats. Charli Lene, Mori Lene, Sage White, and Nicholle Arocho were named game MVPs. The 14u team gets ready for their end-of-season tournament in Fairbanks this weekend as the season comes to a close for these girls with a few more league games against Fairbanks.
