The release of what may be the final inspection report for Gulf World Marine Park shows how problematic the facility had gotten. Along with other agencies, the U.S. Department of Agriculture carried out the inspection on March 27. Its report stated that among other things, inspectors discovered decaying facilities and poor animal care. Following the death of a fourth dolphin in a few months and increased public attention, the agency conducted the inspection. Since then, the parent firm filed for bankruptcy, the remaining dolphins were moved out of the park, and a fifth dolphin passed away.
